Man United New Coach Revels What Alex Ferguson Told Him
Solskjaer Reveals Sir Alex Contact Over Man Utd Job
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed how he has taken advice from his "mentor" Sir Alex Ferguson since taking over as Manchester United caretaker manager.
The former United striker, who became coach after Jose Mourinho sack letter on Wednesday, was given a position in Sir Alex Ferguson's coaching staff in 2007 after he retired as a player as he became a reserve team boss before departing for Norwegian side Molde.
Solskjaer plans to use years of studying Ferguson's management style to remind the squad to once again "play without fear".
"He's influenced me with everything," Solskjaer said in his first press conference at Old Trafford, ahead of facing Cardiff on Saturday.
"The way he's dealt with people, the way he was manager of the club, how he kept 25 international players happy and hungry, wanting to improve, and the staff.
"He's been my mentor. I didn't understand early on he would be my mentor.
Ever since my injury in 2003, I was making all the notes what he did in certain situations.
"I've already been in touch with him there's no one better to get advice from."
